Volunteers in gloves sorting donated food and supplies

Ground Crew

You don't have to fly to help disaster survivors

When our volunteer pilots land at the staging base, our Ground Crew will unload each plane and get its supplies sorted and on their way to our partners. Most will come from the communities around the airport, and you won’t need any experience to join.

What you'll do

A job for every helper

The Ground Crew is what we call our volunteers who don’t fly. You’ll work alongside our team at the staging airport, keeping supplies moving from the planes to our partners on the ground. Church groups, civic clubs, and families are welcome, and volunteers need to be at least 13. Anyone under 18 will need a parent, guardian, or responsible adult with them.

Flight line

Guide planes into parking and help unload them once they’re safely shut down. When a plane is empty, you’ll help get it turned around for its next flight. Flight line volunteers need to be 18 or older.

Warehouse

Sort and weigh supplies as they come off the planes, then stack them on pallets by category. You’ll keep the hangar organized so partners can find what they need fast.

Drivers

Take supplies from the hangar to our partners in the disaster area by truck or van. You’ll get your route and drop-off details before you head out. Drivers need to be 18 or older.

Drive-through drop-off

Greet neighbors who bring supplies to the airport and help unload their cars. You’ll check that donations match our needs list and get them to the warehouse.

Check-in and admin

Welcome volunteers and pilots as they arrive and get everyone checked in. You’ll also help keep our records straight, from flights logged to pounds delivered.

What to expect

Shifts will run about five hours, and you’ll get trained on your job when you arrive. You’ll sign your waiver in Flight Deck when you sign up, and we’ll keep you fed and hydrated while you’re with us.
